4/31/14

Everyone is back at school today.
Saturday we went to the Outdoors store to find my rain pants. We hit the place while they were having a huge sale! Which translates to a long checkout, BUT, they were having trivia while we waited. For Lydia's book battles, one of the books she read was a biography of Neil Armstrong. So the question was the date of the moon landing, I remembered and won! A flask. I have no use for it, but I do like winning prizes! Though I blushed at the attention.
Yesterday we went back to the Pittock Mansion to hike with Ayla and Lydia. She, Lydia, had such a blast in the mud. And Ayla had a great time running like a feral beast, scaling steep hillsides like a mountain goat.
Here are a few more pix from break. There are still some more that I can't get to and will post eventually.
We saw two rainbows over the weekend!
This was a pic we took for Uncle Dan:
She learned to blow bubbles, with gum that is not really bubble blowing friendly!:

3/28/14

Spring break is almost over!  Lydia had come home from school not feeling well, Friday. She went to bed shortly after she got home and slept on and off through the night. She had aches and felt warm, though she had no temp. She was quite better in the morning!
Saturday we drove up to Seattle. We stayed at a nice hotel that Ed's job paid for, by Pike Place, again.  When we arrived we sent Ed off to Dusty Strings, a music store in Freemont, and Lydia and I rested. When he came back we ate and then went for a walk.
Sunday, after a yummy breakfast at the 5 spot diner in Queen Anne, we went to the Makers Faire at the Music museum near the Space Needle. We spent a couple of hours there, doing some hands on stuff, Ed doing work stuff. After that we walked around outside the museum, and then over to the Childrens Science Center so Lydia could get a souvenier. We went back on Monday to play.
We drove to Chris and Matt's for dinner We ate some good food and took a walk with the dogs after dinner, with Matt.  It was an early turn in, we were exhausted from a day spent putting on some miles.
Monday the boys headed to work early and we left around 10. We went back to the Science museum to play. After that we found a park to play in and eventually got back on the road and were home around dinner time.
Tuesday, Lydia went to her friend Brooklyn's house until dinner. Wednesday she went to the Children's Museum with Brooklyn, Ed and I went on our own adventure, we got passes to tour the Pittock Mansion and then walked around the Alphabet District. Things Lydia does not enjoy.
Yesterday we returned the favor and took Brooklyn with us to OMSI, Portland's science center and then to The Kennedy school, an old school that is now a hotel and theater. We ordered some food and sat on couches to watch "Nut Job".  It was great!
Today will be more productive. Ho hum.
Pix will follow soon!

3/21/14

We are officially on spring break! Ed was off today so he and I went for a hike at Pittock Mansion.
http://pittockmansion.org/
We visited in the gate house, not the main house, and took in the absolutely amazing surroundings! It sits atop an acme and looks out over the city, you can see Mt. Hood, Adams, St.Helens. Stunning. And it was a gorgeous clear day. Though in the pictures you will see the clouds at the top of Hood.
We took Ayla out on the trails and it was of course beautiful.
Last night Lydia started to say she wasn't feeling well, we figured it was a math test that she hadn't prepared for. Ed walked her to school today and she cried and complained the whole way. I picked her up and she was running around playing, she ate a starburst and two cookies, rewards. But she seemed a bit quiet. On the walk home it started to become clear that she really was feeling ill.
She has been in bed since then. She has barely eaten a thing all day, except for that crap.
She has no fever but is a bit warm and has aches.
This all leads to...
Ed's boss is paying for a hotel room so Ed can go to:

(The Makers Faire)
We would drive up tomorrow morning, spend some time there and have a mini vacation. And then Sunday we would meet up with Chris and Matt and have dinner, maybe stay over with them. But now that she is sick, we won't know until tomorrow if Ed will have to go alone. :(
Lydia brought home her report card, it was very good.
Here are some pix. I can see they will get redundant fast.
